Check out Frank Miller's latest BLOG POST about the role of Computer Generated Images (CGI) in the making of THE SPIRIT - opening CHRISTMAS DAY 2008!

And Stu wouldn't let one damn character turn into a "bendie" or digital in any way. Hence my favorite shot - the Spirit leaps onto a water tower, and stumbles, just for a moment. Pure Eisner.

Eisner news in Australia

Thanks to the generosity of film maker Andrew Cooke, Supanova Sydney and Perth will hold a screening of "Will Eisner: Portrait of a Sequential Artist" after the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) Comics/Graphic Novel Portfolio seminar sessions on Saturday 21 June (Sydney) and Saturday 28 June (Perth) at 7.00pm. The documentary chronicles the life and art of one of the most influential comics creators of our time. It has previously screened at various film festivals in North and South America and Europe. This will be the film's Australian premier. Also in attendance at Supanova Perth will be convention guest Gary Chaloner, writer/artist of Will Eisner's John Law.

2008 Eisner Award Nominees announced!

The nomination list for the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards represents the most diverse slate of titles and creators in the 20-year history of the awards. The nominees range from high-priced comprehensive collections of archival works to small self-published pamphlets, from literary Japanese graphic novels to comics based on popular TV series, from goofy humor titles to works about the Soviet space program, a Chinese magician, and the Negro Leagues.
